On 4th April, the Medeu District Court of Almaty ruled on the lawsuit filed by the former finance minister and his son against the Internet portal Ratel.kz and the magazine Forbes.kz and ordered the defendants to pay 50 million 200,000 tenge: 27 million 900 thousand was awarded to Zeinulla Kakimzhanov and 22 million 300,000 Ilkhalid Kakimzhanov. According to the decision published on the Supreme Court's website, Alexander Vorotilov, the publisher of the website Forbes.kz United Media Group LLP and the deputy editor-in-chief of the publication, must pay the Kakimzhanovs 16.5 million tenge, and Marat Asipov, publisher of the online portal Ratel.kz ITAYU LLP and editor-in-chief, and journalists Gennady Benditsky and Sapa Mekebaev had to pay 26 million 900 thousand tenge.
