The criminal court of the Khorezm region found the journalist and poet Makhmud Rajab guilty under articles 244 ("public disorder") and 246 ("smuggling") of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and sentenced him to two years and 3 months imprisonment (suspended sentence). He is not allowed to leave the territory of Uzbekistan for the duration of the sentence.
