On July 6th, Lukpan Akhmedyarov, editor of the Uralsk Week newspaper, was detained in Uralsk Square. While he was reporting, he was approached by a man in plain clothes and a policeman. They showed the journalist a summons to the police station, but did not hand it over to him. Hours later, Lukpan Akhmedyarov reported that he had been taken to the police for a criminal case. The detention of journalist Alexei Vorobyov was also reported on Facebook.
