On the 2nd of March Lasha Meskhi did not have his contract extended as a journalist for the programme "Moambe" on the Georgian Public Broadcaster's television channel. He was also the chairman of the union on the channel. His firing was not accompanied by complaints about his professional ability. The Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics believes that the firing of Lasha Meskhi was linked to his union activity, where he was battling for the rights of himself and others, and where he openly spoke of the broadcaster's problems.
