In Taraz city court № 2 the case is being considered against the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "New Region", Larisa Safonova, the newspaper's special correspondent, social mediator at KSU "Public Consent" apparatus for the mayor of the Zhambyl region, Sultan Amirkenov, and city resident Vera Karmysova of defamation (article 130 of the criminal code). The claimant, O. Kim, a member of the European Legal Service claims that in S. Amirkenov's article "The goals are good, but a product with a smell?!" (New Region, 25th May 2017), deliberately false information was distributed against her, discrediting her honour, dignity and business reputation. As part of the criminal case, she filed a civil claim for compensation for moral damage in the amount of 2 million tenge.
