The independent journalist Kyamran Makhmudov was arrested in June while travelling from Azerbaijan to Georgia. The journalist, who spent the night in police custody, was told that he was forbidden from leaving the country. No explanation of the reasons for this ban was given. After his release the journalist appealed to the court. In the process of the trial, the ban relating to the journalist was lifted.
