In Dimitrovgrad, in Ulyanovsk Oblast, a scandal broke out at an event marking the centenary of the border guard after the mayor of Dimitrovgrad, Aleksei Koshayev, swore at and punched a journalist of the local newspaper "DimGrad" Kyaman Kichemaikin twice for sitting down on a bench while the Russian national anthem was being played. According to the reporter, he was so immersed in his work that he could not hear what was going on around him. Nevertheless, Kichemaikin wrote a statement for the police and recorded the beating in the city hospital.
