In October a number of journalists were detained during an attempt by the opposition party "Azerbaijan People's Front" to hold a demonstration in a central area of Baku. The journalists Tazakhan Miralamli, Sevinj Vagifgyzy, Ramin Deko, Aziz Kerimov, Salima Jalilova, Parvana Bairamova, Mekhman Guseinov, Mekhin Kerimi, Abulfat Bakhshali, Bugar Mirzabei, Farid Ismailov, Gulnaz Ganbarli and Nurlan Gakhramanly were arrested by police. They were later released.
