In June, local courts sentenced the site manager of the website "jam.az", the journalist Fikret Faramazoglu, to seven years imprisonment. The journalist, accused of extortion by means of threats, denied all accusations. He was arrested after the publication of an article about restaurants and a chain of massage salons under the control of high-ranking bureaucrats. Faramazoglu was released in 2019.
