The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Astana opened a criminal case under article 174 of the Criminal Code ("Incitement of social, national, ancestral, racial, class or religious discord") against civil activist Aslan Kurmanbayev. The reason was a post on the social network Facebook, in which he talked about a boycott of the Universiade (World Student Games) and Expo in support of convicted activists M. Bokaev and T. Ayan.
