Radio Liberty employees arrived in Kropotkin to cover a "tractor march" - a protest action aimed to draw attention to the unlawful seizure of land by federal authorities in the region. Near the hotel, young men in masks with gas canisters ran up to the journalists. They beat the journalists and took away their computers, cameras and belongings.
