The Lazarevskiy District Court of Sochi sentenced the editor-in-chief of "BlogSochi" Alexander Valov to six years in a corrective labour colony under an extortion case surrounding an MP in the State Duma. The court fined Valov 700,000 roubles and found the journalist guilty under subclause d) of Section 2 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code (“extortion on a large scale”).
