On 11th September the president of Azerbaijan pardoned the imprisoned blogger Alexander Lapshin. Alexander Lapshin, who has Russian and Israeli citizenship, was included on a list of undesirable people after visiting the occupied Karabakh region of Azerbaijan in 2011 and 2012. In 2016, the blogger arrived in Azerbaijan with a Ukrainian passport. Alexander Lapshin wrote about this visit in his blog. Following this, Alexander Lapshin was detained in Belarus at the resquest of Baku on charges of illegally crossing the Azerbaijani border. In February, he was extradited to Azerbaijan on a special flight from Belarus. On 20th July, the Baku serious crimes court sentenced him to three years in prison.
