The journalist is accused of committing an administrative offence under part 5, article 517 of the Code of Administrative Crimes of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Violation by a foreigner or stateless person of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of migration of the population, expressed in the non-conformity of the activities carried out by the objectives specified in the visa and/or when registering in the migration card...) Judge Khatima Yersenova found the Ukrainian journalist guilty of an administrative offence and ordered to pay a fine of 25 monthly notional units (60,125 tenge). The court reduced the fine by 30%. As a result, the sum amounted to 42087 tenge.
