On June 23, 2017, the host of a YouTube channel about NGOs Alexander Batmanov was forcibly taken "for a talk" to a police department in the Sovetskiy region of Volgograd. The police talked to him and were about to let him go, but after discussions with the prosecutor's office decided to "leave it till Monday." Batmanov was put in a cell with no water or food. When attempting to escape, he fell from the third floor and fractured both heels. He was then arrested, operated on in a prison hospital, charged and tried. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to two years and one month in a high-security correctional facility.
