On 10th January, lawyer Akgul Karasaeva initiated a conflict with Akmaral Shayakhmetova, a journalist for the Uralsk Week newspaper, at the criminal courthouse in Uralsksk. The lawyer reacted emotionally to the subject of the journalist. She stated that if the journalist did not stop calling her and taking an interest in the case, she would write a statement to the police complaining that the journalist was illegally interfering in a person's private life. "I will make sure that you will be detained for 25 days, and then I will make sure that you will be deprived of the right to engage in any kind of journalistic activity," Akgul Karasaeva said.
