In January local courts sentenced the chief editor of the news website "azel.tv", Afgan Sadygov, to two years and six months imprisonment. The journalist, known for his critical articles on local government, was found guilty of assaulting another person. He said in court that he had been defamed and his arrest had been ordered because of his articles.
