On the 20th of March, UNDP's Georgian coordinator Niels Scott called the pressure on television channel Rustavi 2 intolerable. “We may agree or disagree with what the journalist said, but violence is unacceptable”, said Niels Scott. He expressed hope that the government will duly respond to the case and will prevent similar cases in the future. According to him, freedom of speech must be protected and the media should have internal regulations to determine what is ethical and what is not. Regulation of the issue by violence is absolutely unacceptable, he added.
