On the 7th of February the management of the Georgian Public Broadcaster ceased preparations for the launch of several live programmes. The NGO Transparency International Georgia expressed concern that the stopping of the programmes the Georgian law on broadcasting. Article 16 of the law state that the broadcaster must make available civil, political and documentary programmes, as well as cover pre-election debates during the campaign. "The statement of the managing director makes it unclear how the channel is planning to fulfil its legal requirements, considering the elections in 2017" said Transparency International Georgia in a statement.
