Aleksey Kholyavsky, the sole proprietor of "New Water", filed a lawsuit to protect his honour, dignity and business reputation against the "Northern Kazakhstan Publishing House" LLP (publisher of the newspaper "North Kazakhstan Week"), the editor-in-chief Yelena Berezhnaya, to Petropavlovsk court No. 2. In May, the editorial board, to which Kholyavsky hade made a pre-trial claim regarding the publication, refused to publish a refutation and pay compensation for moral harm, on the grounds that their material was written in accordance with the Petropavlovsk Police Department.
