Businessman Kamalov appealed to the Bostandyk District Court of Almaty with a claim to protect his honour, dignity and business reputation against the Internet portal Nur.kz. He asks the court to recognise the information disseminated in the publication of 8th August 2018 "Shaytan was knocked out. A girl from Kyrgyzstan tells how she was beaten by a Kazakh businessman" as untrue and defamatory, to oblige the defendant to publish a refutation and to pay 5 million tenge in damages. The plaintiff also asked to remove the publication in Kazakh from the information site. On 20th November 2018, the court denied the claim. On February 28th 2019, the appeals panel left the court's decision unchanged, and the plaintiff's appeal was rejected.
