In July 2018, police officer Yermek Kayupov filed a lawsuit to Uralsk court No. 2 with a claim for the protection of his honour, dignity, business reputation and private life. The defendants are the owner and publisher of the newspaper "Uralsk Week", "Journalist's Initiative" LLP and "Press-Week" LLP, as well as the publication's correspondent Akmaral Shayakhmetova. At the court session, the newspaper owner and the journalist agreed with the claim in terms of the requirements for recognising false information about the dismissal of a police officer. The court was asked to refuse the rest of the claim.
