On January 11, the penitentiary service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia filed a lawsuit to the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdication against the founder of the newspaper "Zhamanak" demanding a public retraction for the publication of allegedly slanderous statements. The reason for the lawsuit was an article published by "Zhamanak" on December 12, 2018 entitled "No control whatsoever: guards earn money for keeping cell doors open in prisons". On January 23, the lawsuit was accepted for court proceedings.
