The blogger is suspected of “organization and preparation of actions seriously disturbing the peace, or active participation in them” (Art. 342 of the Criminal Code). Sergei Petrukhin was taken to a temporary holding facility in Minsk on June 25. The reference is to events on May 29 in Hrodna during a picket to gather signatures to nominate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who is now jailed on charges under a similar article of the Criminal Code. According to human rights activists, the picket was a peaceful gathering of citizens which completely complied with election law.
