The police searched the journalist’s apartment and confiscated computer equipment. After the search, the officers drew up a report on him for distribution of extremist materials (Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences) and sent Siarhei Niarovny to the detention center for two days until the trial. On October 18, the court postponed the case until October 20 and the journalist was released. On October 20, the police detained Niarovny at the entrance of the court building — a second report under Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences was drawn up on him and he was again sent to a detention center until the trial. On October 21, the court sent the case back for revision and the journalist was released. On November 1, the court combined the reports into one case and fined Niarovny 20 basic amounts. He was tried for the likes on the TUT.by Facebook page and the Belsat page. The judge considered that by the likes he allegedly «spread extremist materials».
