Siarhei Hardzievich was charged under the article «insult of the President of the Republic of Belarus» (Article 368 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). The reason for the prosecution was the reposting of a message in the Drahichyn-based Viber group, to which Hardzievich is affiliated. The journalist was detained on December 22 by riot policemen. Since December 25, he has been under house arrest. His apartment was searched: his computer, SIM cards, and phones were seized, the journalist's minibus and his wife's car were confiscated.
