The law enforcers detained journalist and writer Siarhei Chyhryn and accused him of violating Part 2 of Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus (distribution of information products included in the national list of extremist materials, as well as manufacturing, publishing, storage or transportation with the purpose of distribution of such information products). On the same day, the Slonim District Court arrested Chyhryn for 7 days for reposting from the Internet resource declared "extremist materials" in Belarus. On December 19, while Siarhei Chyhryn was serving his sentence in a temporary detention centre, he was fired from the position of the head of the literary department of the Slonim Drama Theatre.
