After the regional independent media outlets Mahilyou Media and 6TV.by were declared «extremist formations», law enforcers massively searched the flats of former journalists and public activists. It is known that on December 5 and 6, the flats of six people were searched. Computer equipment, telephones, digital and paper data carriers were seized from all of them. After the searches, they were taken to the KGB for interrogation. After the interrogation, journalist Siarhei Antonau was placed in a temporary detention centre for two days. After being released, Antonau evacuated from Belarus for fear of criminal prosecution.
