On April 11, blogger Shyngys Tairov was detained by law enforcement officers. He was charged under Article 202-1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (inducement to participate in the activities of illegal non-governmental non-commercial organisations, movements, sects). On the same day, the Nukus City Court issued a decision on administrative arrest for 15 days and blocking of the blogger’s account. At the same time, the court decision did not mention any calls by Tairov to participate in illegal organisations, for which he was prosecuted. This illegal decision was appealed. On April 20, the court of appeal, having considered the complaint, reduced the term of arrest to 8 days, i.e. to the term actually served. At the same time, the court referred to the "offender"’s admission of guilt and the social situation in the family. After that, Tairov was released from custody in the courtroom.
