K. Isenova, the founder of the public fund for disabled children, filed a lawsuit with the Ust-Kamenogorsk court to protect her honour, dignity, and business reputation. One of the defendants in the process was the media holding Shygys Akparat, which includes several regional and district mass media. The reason for the court proceedings was a press release circulated with reference to the Health Department of the East Kazakhstan Region under the headline «In East Kazakhstan Region, the director of a children’s institution collected money allegedly for children on her personal account». The court ordered the defendants to publish the press release with a mandatory notification to the addressees of the inconsistency of the information contained in this document, to publish a refutation in the same media, and to reimburse the plaintiff for court costs.
