Shukrulla Parpiyev, the blogger who is a member of the independent group Human Rights and head of the organisation Himoyachi blogerlar (Protector of Bloggers), was arrested in the Qashqadaryo Region. He is suspected of committing an offence under Part 3 of Article 165 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Ministry of Internal Affairs press service stated that he and his two colleagues were caught with physical evidence when they asked for USD 5,000 in exchange for non-disclosing of personal information on the Internet about the school director and his farmer father.
