Shohida Mamajonova, the mother of the German-based blogger and government critic Sherzod Mamajonov (known as Abdurahmon 09), was sentenced to six years in prison by the Ismoili Somoni District Court of Dushanbe. She was found guilty of supporting the ideas of the country's banned Group 24 and the Islamic Renaissance Party. Mamajonova's lawyers said they would appeal against the verdict. In court, the defendant stated that she «pleads guilty and regrets what she has done». She added that her brother, who worked in a military unit, had been dismissed in June 2021. Mamajonova's relatives chided her that her brother had been fired because of her son's statements.
