The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan has announced the whereabouts of Shohida Mahmadzhonova, the mother of blogger Sherzod Mahmadzhonov, who had previously been reported missing after a visit to the Vahdat police department. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on its official website that criminal proceedings were initiated against Shohida Mahmadzhonova, a resident of Vahdat, under Part 2 Article 307 (organisation of an extremist community) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The woman has been arrested. The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that the detainee's son, Sherzod Mahmadzhonov, is not a blogger or opposition activist: «he is wanted for crimes of an extremist and terrorist nature».
