Four media outlets received letters of complaint from the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan — Serke.org, Adyrna.kz, Kznews.kz, and Exk.kz. The Administration accuses media outlets of publishing unreliable facts and assumptions about the Administration and its employees, which harm their reputation. The Administration demands that publications be sent for verification before publication and warns: «if the publication of such materials continues, we will initiate a law enforcement case against your website and the author of the materials in accordance with the requirements of the law». «The materials published on the above-mentioned websites talk about tribalism, forced subscription to corporate media outlets, separation of vaccines to "halal", selling off mosque property, and other problems», — says Nazira Darimbet, president of the Kazakhstan Federation of Journalists.
