The 2nd Western District Military Court has sentenced Sergey Veselov, a blogger from Shuya, to seven years in a general-regime penal colony on charges of calling for terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) and confidential cooperation with a representative of a foreign state (Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code). According to the publication, taking into account the combined sentences in this case and in a separate case involving discrediting the army, Veselov was given a total sentence of eight years in a penal colony. He was also banned from administering websites and online channels for two years.
