The court fined Stepanov RUB 30,000 for not wearing a mask during a live broadcast. This is the maximum fine under Article 20.6.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation. The protocol was drawn up for the journalist immediately after his 7-day administrative arrest for covering the protest action on January 23. Stepanov explained to the police that he took off his mask only when recording stand-ups, keeping social distance.
