The Basmanny District Court of Moscow fined the editor-in-chief of Mediazona Sergey Smirnov RUB 150,000 for the absence of a «foreign agent» marking in the media outlet’s publications (Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation). He was fined as the general director of the founding company. The Ministry of Justice included Mediazona, its founder, and editor-in-chief in the register of «foreign agents» in September 2021. Smirnov was fined three times for refusing to mark posts. At the end of November 2023, Mediazona was fined RUB 300,000 under the same article of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation.
