Sergey Reznik, the journalist from Rostov-on-Don, who emigrated from Russia, became a defendant in the third criminal case, this time on extortion (Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the investigation, he was involved in the extortion of money from the Nakhichevan Market Director Roman Gevorgyan: in June 2021, the journalist allegedly together with «unidentified persons» posted false information about Gevorkyan on the «Deputy of all administrations» Telegram channel, and then called Gevorgyan’s son and demanded him to transfer RUB 60,000 to him, which he did. Reznik considers the case fabricated and claims that he never communicated with Gevorgyan’s son.
