In Petrozavodsk, a criminal case was brought against the author of the Telegram channel War is Cringe Sergey Drugov. Drugov is accused of disseminating disrespectful information about the days of military glory and memorable dates of Russia related to the defence of the Fatherland on the Internet (Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code). The case was initiated because of the reposting by Drugov in his Telegram channel of the publication of Feminist Anti-War Resistance entitled «May 9: Victory Day, Death Regiment, Blood Parade». In the post, the activists criticised the cult of Victory against the backdrop of Russian aggression in Ukraine and announced the holding of alternative mourning rallies on May 9. Drugov’s case is being considered on the merits by the Supreme Court of Karelia. The blogger asked for a special order of consideration of the case, but was denied. The expert in Drugov’s case is an associate professor Alexander Ilyin, under whom the defendant studied years ago.
