It has become known that blogger Sergey Bespalov has received a ruling from the Minsk District Court ordering the recovery of 21,158,168 roubles and 55 kopecks (approximately USD 7.2 million) in accordance with a civil lawsuit decision. The substance of the claims against the blogger is unknown. The document states that the civil claim was filed by a Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus “in the interests of the state, represented by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Belarus”, seeking compensation for “material damage caused by a crime”. Bespalov is the founder of the network of public pages "Maya Kraina Belarus” (My Country Belarus) and lives in forced exile. In 2025, he was sentenced in absentia to 18 years’ imprisonment and a fine of 1,000 base units. The blogger was charged under 10 articles of the Criminal Code, including “organising mass riots”.
