Belsat TV journalist Dmitry Mickiewicz and cameraman Sergei Kovalev were detained during broadcast of a picket to gather signatures to nominate Alyaksandr Lukashenka for president. Dmitry Mickiewicz and cameraman Sergei Kovalev were detained by eight men in plainclothes. The journalists were put into a bus and taken in an unknown direction. The journalists were held under guard at a police station for three hours, then released. Police issued a warrant against the journalists under Art. 22.9 of the Code of Administrative Procedures (violation of the media law), and confiscated all their equipment, including telephones. The judicial proceeding for the administrative case was scheduled for June 18.
