On the morning of February 8, a courier service delivered a box to the Ulysmedia.kz editorial office. It contained animal guts and family photos of editor-in-chief Samal Ibrayeva. «Not some terrible cyberattack, but a simple gift with meaning», — Samal wrote on Facebook. The police officers who arrived on the call took an explanatory note (statement) from Ibrayeva and took fingerprints from the container. «The fact of finding a container with internal organs of an unknown animal and copies of family photos in the building of Ulysmedia.kz is registered in the Yesil District Police Department of Astana. The necessary expertise has been appointed, and an investigation is underway», — police said. Ibrayeva regards the incident as «an attempt to intimidate the editorial office».
