On July 13, Salim Inomzoda, a Tajik-speaking journalist, was detained and charged with disseminating «materials threatening public security». A criminal case has been opened against him based on these charges. He faces between five and eight years in prison. Inomzoda is the founder of the Facebook group «O’zbekiston Tojiklari» («Tajiks of Uzbekistan»). The case file says that in October 2022, Inomzoda reposted a song about «Samarkand and Bukhara» on social networks, which «lasts 3 minutes and 54 seconds, has a religious character and signs of separatism». According to three sources at once, he is currently being held in the pre-trial detention centre of the Mirzo-Ulugbek District of Tashkent.
