On March 25, in the National Assembly building, Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan displayed an aggressive attitude toward News.am correspondent Ruzan Khachatryan. When the journalist attempted to ask him a question, Simonyan responded, "I understand that you are from News.am, and your owner is Robert Kocharyan (the second President of Armenia, who is currently in opposition), isn’t that right?" Ruzan Khachatryan objected, saying, "Prove that this is the case." In response, the parliament speaker said, "Prove what? That there were political prisoners under Kocharyan?" while also urging the journalist not to "attack" him. Later, Alen Simonyan expressed regret over the incident and apologised to the journalist.
