On 28-29 November 2024, police and special forces brutally cracked down on media workers in Tbilisi during a pro-EU protest sparked by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's announcement that the Georgian Dream party is halting EU accession process until 2028. A journalist of Rustavi 2 was injured during the dispersal of the anti-government protest outside the Georgian Parliament. Riot police used tear gas, pepper spray and water canon to disperse protest. The journalist was affected by the pepper spray and was unable to continue his work.
