The Russian Ministry of Justice has added journalist and orientalist Ruslan Suleimanov to its list of “foreign agents.” According to the ministry, he disseminated false information about government decisions, shared content from “foreign agents” and “undesirable” organisations, and appeared on their platforms. Until February 2022, Suleimanov served as the senior Middle East correspondent for the TASS news agency in Cairo. He resigned in protest against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Suleimanov now runs his own Telegram channel and frequently features in the media as an expert commentator.
