Following the announcement of her sentence, Tajik journalist Rukhshona Khakimova was arrested. She had been sentenced to 8 years in jail on the 5th of February by the Supreme Court of Tajikistan, though the prosecutor had asked that she be imprisoned for 17 years. Over the course of the investigation, Khakimova stayed out of prison, due to her young children. Her lawyer reported that Khakimova was taken into custody in the court room after the sentence was announced. According to him, the court awarded custody of her two children to her relatives. Her older child is two and a half years old and her youngest - 10 months.
