The Kirovsky District Court of Ufa sentenced blogger Rostislav Murzagulov in absentia to eight years in a general regime colony, fined him 250,000 rubles (€2,600), and prohibited him from administering websites for four years. He was found guilty of violating the rules for “foreign agents” and spreading “false information” about the Russian army. The charges were based on videos about the army’s actions in Ukraine and publications that failed to indicate his “foreign agent” status. In 2021, Murzagulov resigned as chairman of the Public Chamber of Bashkortostan, and in 2022, he began hosting the political show Uncensored News on the YouTube channel Otkrytye Media.
