A criminal case has been initiated against journalist Roman Popkov on charges of making public calls for terrorist activity (Part 2, Article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code). Investigators are requesting his arrest in absentia. The specifics of the allegations have not been disclosed. Popkov has been listed in Rosfinmonitoring’s registry of extremists and terrorists since 2024. In 2023, he was also arrested in absentia in connection with another criminal case — the murder of propagandist Vladlen Tatarsky. Popkov currently resides in Ukraine.
