The Korolev City Court arrested RusNews journalist and author of the Telegram channel «Chestnoye Korolevskoye!» Roman Ivanov for two months on a case of «fakes» about the Russian army (Paragraph E of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The criminal case against him was initiated because of two Telegram posts from April 2022 and March 2023, as well as a publication in the VKontakte group «Chestnoye Korolevskoye!», made in October last year. They refer to war crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine. On April 11, 2023, law enforcers came with a search to the apartment of Ivanov and his family. According to the journalist’s wife, law enforcers broke down the door with communication jammers, so the Ivanovs could not contact their lawyers or relatives for a long time. All equipment was seized from the apartment, and the journalist was detained. Ivanov was taken to the Investigative Committee for interrogation.
